Porter County College Success Coalition to host college success summit - November 05 2013

NW Indiana – Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education Teresa Lubbers will join area business, education, community leaders from Northwest Indiana on Wednesday, November 20th to spotlight regional efforts to increase college access and completion. The Porter County College Success Summit is part of a series of regional events taking place across Indiana to engage local leaders in increasing the number of Hoosiers with education and training beyond high school.

“We have a sense of urgency to dramatically raise the education level of Hoosiers across our state,” said Lubbers. “Our success will depend upon local communities rallying around the common cause of increasing college completion,” she added.

Join the Coalition: Porter County is part of a growing statewide network of nearly 1,500 local organizations working to increase college readiness and education attainment. To date, coalitions have been formed in 50 counties and coalition members have implemented more than 2,100 targeted activities designed to help students plan, prepare and pay for college success. Through its Learn More Indiana outreach initiative, the Commission for Higher Education is accepting applications to form another 20 county coalitions this fall.
